About veda

Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental association, registered to operate in public benefit. It is located on the territory of Varna District in Bulgaria, East Europe.The agency was established in 1997 under the joint program of Varna Municipality and USAID to assist the advancement of regional economic development. Since 1998 VEDA is a member of the network of the Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies and Business Centers (BARDA).

Mission

VEDA aims towards leadership in the establishment of conditions for sustainable economic development of Varna and the region. The agency supports the building of the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMES) through impartial providing of information, consulting services and training. VEDA promotes networking, the attraction of foreign investments in the Region, and improvement of the local employment opportunities.

GOALS

To support SMEs, innovations and economic development.
To work for attracting of foreign investments.
To offer alternative forms and programs for the reduction of the unemployment level.
To assists local and state authorities in the preparation of the regional development plans.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Information support for SMEs.
Training programs, seminars, business meetings and presentations of companies and products.
Consulting services in the area of strategic and business planning, preparation of marketing plans, business management, start-ups, quality management, human resource management, proposal writing, project management, information technology, and web-design.
Info for business delegations to international fairs and forums.
Contacts with foreign partners.
Specialized assistance and contacts with local authorities and businesses upon investor interest.
Active promotion of Varna and the Region before potential foreign investors.

Maintaining and providing of a database of Bulgarian and foreign companies, embassies, and NGOs, the media and local authorities

The agency has extensive experience in projects at national, international and European level including SEE Transnational Cooperation Programme, JOP Black Sea Basin, Erasmus and Danube Transnational Programme.
